Common Language Glossary. As part of its effort to lessen the stigma around drug addiction, the Ohio team has crafted a glossary of addiction-related terms using reputable sources from the medical and addiction fields. The definitions in the glossary emphasize addiction as a brain disease and reflect a philosophy of acceptance of those struggling with these destructive and sometimes lethal addictions.
Drug Courts. General information.
Drug Incident Summary Collection Overview (DISCO) System. National model for a data collection partnership between Ohio's 43 drug task forces and the El Paso Intelligence Center. The system was announced in 2017 and provides Ohio task force commanders and federal law enforcement leaders with more accurate and real-time drug incident statistics. In return, decision-makers can prioritize interdiction operations, more readily develop patterns and identify trends to effectively deploy resources as needed.
Governor's Cabinet Opiate Action Team (GCOAT) Established in 2011, the, alliance brings together the expertise and resources of multiple state agencies and unites the entire state enterprise around the goal of preventing drug addiction and reducing overdose deaths. Combatting drug abuse through many initiatives on several fronts at state and local levels involving law enforcement, public health, addiction and treatment professionals, healthcare providers, educators, parents and many others, Ohio's model for fighting drugs is one of the most aggressive and comprehensive in the nation. More than $1 billion is being invested each year to help communities address prevention, treatment, recovery and law enforcement. In addition to funding services and communities, Ohio leaders have invested time and energy into creating tools that can be used to battle this epidemic.
Maternal Opiate Medical Supports (MOMS) The state of Ohio is working with various healthcare leaders, stakeholders, and medical professionals to identify promising treatment practices, including Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), for opioid dependent pregnant mothers eligible for or enrolled in Medicaid during and after pregnancy. The goal of the MOMS collaborative is to improve maternal and fetal health outcomes, improve family stability, and reduce costs of Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) to Ohio's Medicaid program.
Quality Improvement Center for Collaborative Community Court Teams (QIC-CCCT). A 30-month initiative providing funding and support to 15 sites nationwide through the Training, Technical Assistance and Coaching Approach. The goal of the initiative is to strengthen the Collaborative Community Court Teams' capacity to improve services and outcomes for infants, young children, and their families/caregivers. Trumbull, Coshocton, and Fairfield counties were selected from Ohio to create a strategic plan, implement the plan, and evaluate their plan with the assistance of the Center for Children and Families Futures, their partners, and subject matter experts. Although each site has the same overall goal and target population, each has their own unique approach. The Supreme Court of Ohio is the state level coordinator of the project.
Specialized Docket Map. Interactive docket map by county.
Statewide System Improvement Program. Standards established to guide Ohio courts in the planning and implementation of all specialized dockets. The standards set forth minimum requirements for the certification and operation of all specialized dockets. While the standards seek to create a minimum level of uniform practices for specialized dockets, they still allow local specialized dockets to innovate and tailor their specialized docket to respond to local needs and resources.

Department of Children's Services (DCS). In response to the impact of the use of opioids and other drugs in child welfare, Tennessee has developed training and outreach to DCS staff, community partners, and the courts. The DCS has created partnerships with hospitals and other community stakeholders across the state to address infants born to parents with substance abuse issues. With the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act implemented, the state modified policy to address children who come to the department due to drug exposure. The department has also worked closely with identified courts to implement Safe Baby Courts which have been shown to decrease the amount of time children spend in foster care by up to a year, decrease the recurrence of maltreatment, and successfully connect children and families to needed services.
Knox County Public Defender's Community Law Office (CLO).
