ECHO TRAININGS
Applications are open for ECHO training series on Working with the Emerging Adult Population in Treatment Courts and Co-Occurring Disorders in Adult Treatment Courts. The ECHO training format consists of 20 minutes of expert instruction, 20 minutes of Q&A, and 20 minutes of participant submitted case study review.
Working with the Emerging Adult Population in Treatment Courts
Session 1: Neuroscience of the Emerging Adult
- Understand developmental differences in the brain in the emerging adult population
- Identify the impact of the developmental differences on behavior in the emerging adult population
Session 2: Risk Need Responsivity in Treatment Courts with the Emerging Adult Population
- Identify the skills needed to ensure the emerging adult population is appropriately scored on validated risk/need assessments
- Understand the impact of motivational interviewing in identifying risk/need in the emerging adult population
Session 3: Complementary Services with the Emerging Adult Population
- Identify complementary services that best meet the needs of the emerging adult population and how this differs in the adult population
Session 4: Case Planning with the Emerging Adult Population
- Identify the unique components of a case plan that need to be considered when working with the emerging adult population
Session 5: Treatment Services with the Emerging Adult Population
- Identify treatment services that best meet the needs of the emerging adult population and how this differs in the adult population
Session 6: Case Planning with the Emerging Adult Population
- Identify components that create effective partnerships for the emerging adult population
Co-Occurring Disorders in Adult Treatment Courts
Session 1: Definition of Co-Occurring Disorders
- Define the components that characterize a co-occurring disorder
Session 2: Identification of Mental Health Disorders
- Understand the different characteristics of mental health disorders
- Identify symptoms of varying mental health disorders
Session 3: Effects of Exposure to Trauma
- Understand the impact of trauma while navigating co-occurring disorders in treatment courts
- Identify specific considerations around trauma in the co-occurring population in treatment courts
Session 4: Screening and Assessment of Co-Occurring Disorders
- Understand the difference between screening and assessment in co-occurring disorders
- Identify evidence-based tools utilized for screening and assessment in co-occurring disorders
Session 5: Treatment of Co-Occurring Disorders
- Identify how to prioritize treatment needs of participants with both substance use and mental health diagnoses
Session 6: Medication Management for Co-Occurring Disorders
- Identify the evidence-based practices for medication management with participants with co-occurring disorders
- Understand the importance of medication management in assisting participants with co-occurring disorders
