Exercise 1: Summary
As you can see, people in the U.S. spend a lot of time at work. Approximately 81% of employed persons work on an average weekday, compared with 29% on an average weekend day. The average employed person spends between 8 and 9 hours working on a weekday, and between 5 and 6 hours working on a weekend day. Further, more than half of working people in the U.S. depend on an hourly paycheck, so every hour they spend away from work dealing with court business is an hour they are not paid. This can be a stressor to court users who do not have flexible jobs, paid time off, or who rely on keeping consistent hours and paychecks for financial stability.
