Whom will you recruit, why, and how?
Once your court has clarified the goals it wants to achieve with public engagement, one of the first things you will want to consider is whom else you need to recruit to help you achieve those goals.
Whom you target for engagement should be driven by the goals of your engagement. For example, a specific goal to improve drug courts differs from the specific goal of understanding cross-jurisdictional issues pertaining to tribal and state courts. In each case, the individuals, groups, agencies, and others affected by the issue or who could help understand or improve the situation are different.
This section of the toolkit offers methods for brainstorming about, identifying, and choosing potential participants, and for identifying and choosing recruitment methods to encourage involvement.
