Language Access Plan

Coordination/Supervision of Interpreters: Credentialed or Certified at State Level/Scheduled at Local Level

Cost of Interpreter Services (including fees to freelance and salaries of staff interpreters: $100,000 - $500,000

Budget for Language Access Program (not including direct interpreter services): $100,000 - $500,000

Funding for Language Access Program: Certification events are funded by registration fees.

Compensation Range for Salaried Interpreters (spoken language):  MO does not employ salaried interpreters.

Compensation Range for Salaried Interpreters (sign language): This information is kept by another state agency.

Compensation Range for Freelance Interpreters (certified spoken language):  $50-$100 per hour

Compensation Range for Freelance Interpreters (certified sign language): This information is kept by another state agency.

Difference in Pay between Spanish and LOTS Interpreters:  Minor Variance

Minimum Certification Requirements:  Missouri does not require interpreters to become certified; however, only those certified are included on our list of interpreters that are provided to the courts. We strongly encourage courts to use certified interpreters if at all possible.
