Coordination/Supervision of Interpreters: Registries of credentialed spoken-language interpreters are available on the Supreme Court’s website. Selection, scheduling and payment of interpreters is performed locally by each court.
Cost of Interpreter Services (including fees to freelance and salaries of staff interpreters): $100,000 - $500,000
Budget for Language Access Program (not including direct interpreter services): $0 - $50,000
Funding for Language Access Program: Costs for interpreter services and direct expenses are funded at the district court level, with some costs reimbursed via a civil filing fee. Credentialing of qualified interpreters is funded at the state level from the Supreme Court’s General Operating Budget.
Compensation Range for Salaried Interpreters (spoken language): $80 per hour
Compensation Range for Salaried Interpreters (sign language): $80 per hour
Compensation Range for Freelance Interpreters (certified spoken language): $60 per hour
Compensation Range for Freelance Interpreters (certified sign language): $60 per hour

Minimum Certification Requirements:
Two levels of interpreter credential for spoken languages are recognized in the Oklahoma courts: "Certified Courtroom Interpreters" (the highest level of credential), and "Registered Courtroom Interpreters" (the second highest level of credential). A candidate must first become Registered, and then he or she may apply to take the oral examination to become Certified. In addition, the program also maintains a registry of Certified Sign Language Interpreters who have met the applicable credentialing requirements.
