Coordination/Supervision of Interpreters: They are under the coordination and supervision of the OCI

Cost of Interpreter Services (including fees to freelance and salaries of staff interpreters: $840,824 (FY – 2017)

Budget for Language Access Program (not including direct interpreter services) $812,043.11

Funding for Language Access Program: General Revenue 

Compensation Range for Salaried Interpreters (spoken language): The salary for a Deputy Clerk Interpreter: $40,371 – $46,205; for a Deputy Clerk Interpreter I: $44,629 - $52,183. Please note these are based salary figures and would not include any adjustments such as longevity, stipends, incentive bonuses, etc.

Compensation Range for Salaried Interpreters (sign language): No salaried sign language interpreters 

Compensation Range for Freelance Interpreters (certified spoken language): Compensation varies depending on interpreters’ credentials and languages. The starting rate is $35.00/hour

Compensation Range for Freelance Interpreters (Certified Sign Language): $35.00 - $125.00/hour

Difference in Pay between Spanish and LOTS Interpreters: The starting rate for LOTS is $50.00/hour

Minimum Certification RequirementsQualified (has passed a recognized national written exam: NCSC’s state or federal or NAJIT’s)
