Case management systems (CMSs) for courts have traditionally been implemented as monolithic solutions provided by a single vendor. This one-size-fits-all approach may no longer be effective in today’s world of constantly changing requirements and increasing use of advanced technology. A flexible component-based approach allows for logical groupings of functional capabilities (components) that can be implemented independently with standards-based interfaces to support required interactions and workflows.
The Joint Technology Committee (JTC) developed the following Court Component Model, which identifies court automation functions (components) and provides guidance to court managers in planning for their technology portfolio and prioritization of component implementation.
