eCourts 2024 to explore AI, cyberattacks and more
September 18, 2024 -- NCSC is ramping up for eCourts 2024 from December 9 to 11 at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas. The conference will place a heavy emphasis on what court leaders need to know about the impact of Artificial Intelligence on courts and justice systems, though many other critical topics will also be discussed.
Keynote speaker Professor Hany Farid will present “Artificial Intelligence: A Primer for Legal Practitioners.” Professor Farid will provide a broad overview of the two main pillars of AI—generative AI and predictive AI. Generative AI spans a broad range of techniques by which AI-based systems can synthesize highly realistic images, audio, and video. Predictive AI spans a broad range of techniques that can be used in decision-making situations. Professor Farid will focus specifically on how new advances in AI are likely to impact legal practitioners and the courts.
His keynote will be followed by over a dozen sessions featuring state and national experts from NCSC and courts across the country. Topics include NCSC tools for tackling data challenges; lessons from the recent Kansas cybersecurity attack; and the building of an access to justice infrastructure. eCourts will also feature a series of “eGnite” sessions in which partners from private industry provide insights into how their tools and solutions can help your court. Consult the full agenda for detailed information.
Demand for this year’s conference has been so strong that the conference recently reached capacity—for in-person attendance, at least. NCSC will offer the full program via livestream, and registration to join eCourts remotely is now open.
“eCourts grows in popularity each and every year,” said Jesse Rutledge, NCSC’s vice president for Public Affairs. “We’re excited to see record-setting in-person attendance, and equally excited that we can offer remote access to all of this year’s programming.”
