The rise of social media has presented both opportunities and challenges for courts. With roughly 72 percent of Americans using social media, platforms like Facebook, X (Twitter) , YouTube, and others have become essential communication tools.
With support from the Conference of Chief Justices (CCJ) and Conference of State Court Administrators (COSCA), the National Center for State Courts (NCSC) encourages courts to utilize social media to:
- Provide real-time information about the court, including services, events, and news;
- Uphold the integrity of the court process through transparency and accountability;
- Increase public engagement;
- Improve the administration of justice;
- Counter false information;
- Share thought-provoking and engaging content that informs the public about issues, services and processes; and
- Promote positive work of the court system and its judges.
