In 2015, the State Justice Institute awarded a grant and provided funding to the NCSC, in conjunction with the Conference of Chief Justices (CCJ), the Council of Chief Judges of the State Courts of Appeal (CCJSCA), the Conference of State Court Administrators (COSCA) and the National Conference of Appellate Court Clerks (NCACC), to develop an electronic catalog of innovative practices and technological applications in the state appellate courts to operate more efficiently and better enable them to reduce the average time to disposition. Representatives of each of these organizations formed a project committee to work with NCSC staff in pursuing this effort, which included a comprehensive survey of state and territorial courts of last resort (COLR) and intermediate appellate courts (IAC).
This e-catalog is designed to be an easily accessible and valuable resource to appellate court leaders as they seek to improve timeliness within their own court and learn from the experiences of their colleagues across the United States.
