Online Case Resolution

Commercial driving cases are often heard in high-volume traffic dockets. To streamline the process, many courts are implementing online solutions to resolve traffic cases. The benefits of online dispute resolution and remote appearances include improved timeliness and court-user satisfaction overall. For commercial drivers, there is the additional benefit of reduced disruption to their work while lessening the impact on the supply chain.

  • Coweta, Georgia provides online dispute resolution to assist commercial drivers with payment processing, continuance requests, and case review requests.
  • Salt Lake City Justice Court, Utah has developed an online arraignment self-scheduler and email notification tool.
  • Denton, Texas developed a mobile application, so drivers can access information about their traffic case, sign up for electronic notifications, conduct mediation, make payments or set payment plans, sign up for a traffic course, and schedule their hearing.
  • The State of Connecticut's Centralized Infractions Bureau provides an online traffic portal for drivers to enter pleas and negotiate with prosecutors.

There are multiple resources to support courts wanting to implement hybrid hearings or online dispute resolution (ODR). This checklist provides specific considerations for CDL cases and supplements the more general guides.
