As courts consider whether and how to use AI-assisted transcription, questions arise about accuracy, human oversight, confidentiality, and the status of AI-generated text within the court record. The September 2026 bulletin, "AI-Assisted Transcription in Courts: Governance, Use, and Safeguards," provides practical guidance on assessing potential uses, establishing policies and safeguards, and determining the appropriate level of human review.

Courts face increasing challenges in how digital evidence is submitted, reviewed, presented, shared, and preserved. The newly released "Managing Digital Evidence in Courts: Policy, Process, and Technology for In-Person, Virtual, and Hybrid Proceedings" provides a unified framework for digital evidence management by consolidating and updating guidance from three previous JTC publications: Managing Digital Evidence in Courts (2016), Managing Evidence for Virtual Hearings (2020), and Considerations for Procuring and Implementing Digital Evidence Management Software (2023).
